The Scothern Clarion – Thursday 24th February 2011
Townswomen's Guild in complete chaos
The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Dramatic Society is even more famous in amateur dramatic circles than our own Scothern Players, albeit for all the wrong reasons. The formidable ladies of Farndale Avenue have put on a series of plays ranging from Macbeth to Gilbert and Sullivan and disaster has struck on every occasion. Now we have the opportunity of seeing one of their productions in Scothern when, assisted by Scothern Players, they put on their own inimitable version of a murder mystery.
The Clarion has received the following from Jonathan Backhouse of Scothern Players – “First of all a big thank you to all of you who have bought tickets for our forthcoming production of "The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen's Guild Dramatic Society Murder Mystery". Rehearsals are going well and with only 3 weeks to go the excitement is mounting and things are coming together.

The next meeting of Scothern Parish Council is on Wednesday 2nd March and a formal copy of the agenda is attached. You will see from the agenda that there are several items of interest which might make it worthwhile attending if you can spare the time. Grange Park is going to be discussed including whether it is worth putting one or two allotments on it, so if you have a view on the use of Grange Park (or on allotments) you could come along or send us an email with your comments. Another big issue is whether it is right to have dogs using the playing field when people who are using it for other recreational purposes are having to come into contact with dog faeces. Maybe you have a view on that? Councillors have been asked to consider how to help in dealing with this problem and obviously they would like to hear your views if you have any on this subject.
And we are still looking for two more prospective councillors to come forward and join the team. There are no qualifications required apart from living or working in the village and have an enthusiasm and energy to help the community thrive. Oh, and possibly standing at the election on 5th May if we are lucky enough to get a late flood of candidates! If you would like to know how to put yourself forward for this really worthwhile activity please email our clerk, John Walkley, on scothernpc@yahoo.co.uk
